Birthday party

A nice few days in London for the 85th birthday of my great-aunt Sophie which was attended by a great crowd of relatives from the Holstein-Gottorp side whom I had never met and some I had never even heard of!

They were a stuffy lot and the older ones persisted in calling Sophie "Countess", which is silly because Alexei died forty years ago and she was married to dear Herman for twenty years after that.
