Sad pair

When I was going through old photographs with Lisaveta before Christmas I came across this one of two of our Hesse relatives, Ernie and Ducky. I don't know how I came to have it—it must be well over 100 years old.
Lizaveta knew very little about them so I told her the whole story of their miserable lives. This made us both feel very depressed so we went out for a rather expensive dinner and drank too much wine.
